Dr. Harry Y. Gamble
Calvary Baptist Church welcomes friends from far and near to our Harry Y. Gamble Lectureship, named in honor of our Pastor Emeritus. Just as Dr. Gamble gave of himself to our community for almost sixty years, we desire to provide a recurring season of renewal for that community.
We will bring to our pulpit periodically outstanding religious leaders to guide us in searching for those deeper truths that will make us and our society better examples of the meaning of the Kingdom of God.
By presenting pulpiteers of note, Calvary seeks to:
- strengthen the Christian commitment to our community
- challenge each person to deeper service
- enable the Church to remain a vital influence within the society in which it is located
- engage the community in a vital religious experience that will renew the life and spirit of those who genuinely care about making the Church an effective force in the society.
This Lectureship, named in honor of Dr. Harry Y. Gamble, Sr., brings to our church nationally known ministers who enlarge the vision and understanding of the community with regard to the Christian faith and its implications for Christian service. Besides Dr. Gamble, Jr., past speakers include Elton Trueblood, Ernest T. Campbell, James Dunn, Nancy Hastings-Sehested, Julian Pentecost, Isam Ballenger, John Killinger, Melissa Rogers, Brad Braxton, and Lynda Weaver-Williams.
