Pastor, Dr. Steven W. Pollard
Dr. Pollard has served as Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church since November, 2015. Prior to his service in Roanoke, he was Pastor of the Abingdon Baptist Church in Abingdon, VA, Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Richmond, and Bethel Baptist Church in Scottsburg, VA.
A Roanoke native, Dr. Pollard’s undergraduate credentials include an Associate of Science degree from Virginia Western Community College and Bachelor of Arts from Carson-Newman College. He received a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY and was awarded a Doctor of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
Dr. Pollard has been married to Glenda Rainey Pollard for 30 years. She grew up in Montgomery, AL and works with the Virginia Baptist’s ministry to the developmentally disabled through Hope Tree Family Services. Dr. and Mrs. Pollard have two children, Kyle, a graduate of Radford University, and Rachel, a student at Radford University.
Minister of Music and Organist, Jared Martin
Jared is a native of Giles County where his extended family still resides. He currently lives in Roanoke City.
Jared holds degrees in Business Administration, Education, and Piano Performance with a Minor in Organ. He is a graduate of both New River Community College and Radford University. He has held full-time secular positions around Roanoke for a number of years. For the past five years, he served part-time as the Director of Music and Organist at Belmont Christian Church. Jared has been very active in community choral societies as both a performer and accompanist. His experience in church and the music of the church has been constant since his early childhood.
Director of Preschool Ministries, Donna de Simone
Donna attended Elon University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Elementary Education. She has been an elementary teacher in Botetourt County for 38 years. Donna has been a member of Calvary since she was a child and has been preschool director at Calvary for the past 16 years. Donna and her husband, Mick have two sons, Matthew, who attends Full Sail University in Florida earning his master’s degree in Creative Writing for Entertainment, and Patrick and his wife, Kaitlyn, who live in Tuckahoe, New York where they are earning Masters of Divinity degrees.
