Loving God * Exploring Faith * Serving Others

Why Calvary?

Robert McKinney

What brought you to Calvary? My next door neighbors, who were Calvary members and had children around my age, invited me to attend church with them when I was about 5 years old.  I immediately got involved in the children’s music programs under the direction of Helen Robertson and was hooked for life.  Even now, nearly 55 years later, I’m still attending Calvary and very much involved in the music ministry of the church.

What keeps you here at Calvary? You know how it is when something just feels right, like it’s just meant to be?  That’s the feeling I get at Calvary.

While the music ministry has played a major role in my time at Calvary, it’s really the church’s spiritual teachings that keep me here.  God is kept first and foremost in everything the church does.  It’s all about worshiping and praising Him while joyfully working together as a fellowship of believers to celebrate God’s blessings and strengthen His kingdom.

Simply put, Calvary fulfills my spiritual needs and makes me a happy camper.  I love the people who worship here and the closeness we share. I love the way everyone greets one another with kind words and hugs and the way we all care for each other’s physical and spiritual health.  I love the way we worship and celebrate God.  Like I said, it just feels right to me.

What do you want someone looking for a church to know about Calvary? The folks at Calvary are genuine, God-loving people who care deeply for each other and who share a common desire to be actively involved in God’s kingdom.  We cherish God’s words and the teachings of Jesus Christ and want others to know God the same way we know Him.

Additionally, I think you would be hard pressed to find a more loving church family.  We recognize that all people are children of God, so at Calvary we welcome everyone into worship regardless of age, ethnicity, social/financial status, gender or sexual orientation.  We are an inclusive, non-judgement congregation eager to share God’s love with you.
